President Signs Bill to Disclose Further Epstein Records Following Period of Opposition

Donald Trump announced on late Wednesday that he had endorsed the legislation resoundingly endorsed by US legislators that directs the Department of Justice to disclose more documents regarding Jeffrey Epstein, the dead pedophile.

The move follows weeks of opposition from the leader and his political allies in the legislature that divided his Maga base and created rifts with certain loyal followers.

Donald Trump had opposed releasing the Epstein documents, labeling the matter a "hoax" and criticizing those who wanted to make the documents public, notwithstanding pledging their publication on the political campaign.

However he changed direction in the past few days after it was evident the legislative chamber would approve the bill. Donald Trump stated: "We have nothing to hide".

The details are unknown what the agency will disclose in response to the bill – the legislation specifies a host of potential items that should be made public, but includes exemptions for specific records.

Trump Signs Measure to Force Release of Further Epstein Documents

The legislation mandates the top justice official to make public Epstein-connected documents open for review "in an easily accessible digital format", encompassing each examination into Jeffrey Epstein, his associate Maxwell, travel documentation and travel records, people cited or listed in connection with his crimes, organizations that were connected with his human trafficking or economic systems, protection agreements and additional legal settlements, organizational messages about prosecution choices, records of his detention and death, and information about any file deletions.

The justice department will have thirty days to submit the records. The bill includes some exceptions, including redactions of victims' identifying information or individual documents, any depictions of minor exploitation, publications that would endanger active investigations or court proceedings and descriptions of death or abuse.
