Arise, Sir David Beckham: Football Legend Honoured by King Charles at Royal Windsor Investiture

David Beckham received a knighthood at the historic royal residence on the weekday. The former England captain, fifty, was one of the individuals receiving awards for his contributions to sport and charity. Earlier this year, he stated he was “extremely honored” of being acknowledged in the King’s birthday honours.

Football Career Highlights

Beckham first appeared in England's top division for the Red Devils in the mid-nineties and was part of the team that earned a thrilling Champions League final victory in the late nineties when they beat the German giants with two late goals.

Overall, he netted eighty-five scores and collected honours including six Premier League titles and domestic cup wins as a soccer professional, before retiring from the sport in the past decade. In addition to his sports endeavors, he has supported a number of charity causes, including acting as a charitable representative for global aid group the United Nations Children's Fund since the mid-2000s.

Charitable and Other Roles

In the previous year, Beckham, who has referred to himself as a “devoted monarchist”, was named an official representative for the royal educational charity, an educational charity founded by the monarch in 1990. In 1998 he was declared most stylish man of the year by a leading publication and he has posed for companies such as the fashion retailer, Armani, and the luxury label.

Beckham tied the knot with Victoria in the turn of the millennium and the couple have a family of four kids together – their eldest, Romeo, Cruz, and their daughter.
